Nu Epoque are a Barcelona-based band, founded by Simonal Bie, singer and beat maker from Mozambique and Leonardo Cincinelli, Italian pianist and producer. Their story begins at the emblematic jazz club Jamboree, where they met and started experimenting during the live Jam Sessions.

From there the unique world of sound that is Nu Epoque was born: lo-fi, organic beats soaked with African polyrhythms and advanced, jazzy harmonies which blend electronic and acoustic type of sounds.

Originally Simonal and Leonardo were joined by Monica Mussungo, charismatic singer from Angola. Her incorporation to the band lead to the production of their first album ("Zula", 2017). Since then Monica has left and Aitana López joined, the trio combines to perfection, creating a balance between the complex electronic sound with the lyrical melodies and vocals, which give the music a dimension of soul and poetry.

In their music you can find influences of J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti, Thudercat, Floating Points and Elaquent.
