Nu Epoque is a Barcelona-based band, founded by Simonal Bie, singer and beat maker of Mozambican origin and Leonardo Cincinelli, Iitalian pianist and producer. Their story begins at the emblematic jazz bar Jamboree, where they meet and start experimenting during the Jam Sessions, creating various projects together.

The result of this union is a unique world of sounds, in which the electronic beats blend naturally with african polirhythms, giving space to the melodies and lyrical poetry of Monica Mussungo, charismatic singer from Angola. Her incorporation to the band leads to the production of the first album “Zula” (Nu Epoque Music, 2017). The trio combines to perfection, creating a balance between the futuristic electronic beats with the groovy melodies and voices, which give the music a dimension of soul and gravity.

In their music you can easily find influences of J Dilla, Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti, Thudercat, Floating Points and Elaquent.
